This is Peanut the turtle, shortly after being found in Missouri in 1993. She was taken to a zoo in St. Louis where the six-pack ring was removed.
It seems that she was trapped in the plastic ring as a young turtle and was unable to free herself. Subsequently her shell molded itself to the plastic ring and she grew in the strange shape you see here.
Unfortunately the damage is permanent, but peanut is expected to live a long life and today she serves as a mascot for the fight against beach littering.

Please, always remember to clean up after yourself at the beach (or any other outdoor location)!

Rebecca, a soldier for Razor's army, begins to have her doubts. As the chapters go on, her doubts become stronger and her confusion as to who she is and what she believes is in question. From the ashes and darkness of this world a new Hero arises, a wizard by the name of Fulcanelli. The Blob (1988) R 95 minutes

The episode wraps up with a short discussion of the awesome actor Bill Oberst Jr., some quotes of his, and his super scary performance in the fun and frightening interactive facebook app... 'Take This Lollipop'. We recommend that EVERYONE visit the website and enjoy some scary fun... http://www.takethislollipop.com/.

*** Side note, I failed on the editing of this one, Lori ask me to include 'Planchette' by Cockfight Club at the end of the show I did not. It will however be in the next podcast.***

Priest (2011) PG-13
In this horror-thriller based on the popular comic book series, Paul Bettany plays Priest, a man-of-the-cloth hell-bent on rescuing his niece while taking down a horde of rampaging vampires in the process. With a terrific cast that includes Karl Urban, Maggie Q, Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif, this is a genre-bending apocalyptic action movie that's every bit as wild and blood-soaked as its source material.

Bigfoot (2012) NR
After Bigfoot unleashes his wrath on music lovers attending an outdoor music festival, crunchy-granola peacenik Simon Quinn vows to save the Sasquatch from Harley Henderson, the concert promoter obsessed with getting revenge on the beast.

Welcome to episode 116. This week we review volume one of the HP Lovecraft Collection, which is a collection of short stories. The main feature is the story 'Cool Air', followed by 'Nyarlathotep', 'Imperfect Solution', 'The Hound', and 'The Hapless Antiquarian'. Our general feeling is that this would be an enjoyable watch for fans of HPL's work, but perhaps not for those who are unfamiliar with his stories. If anyone out there gets a chance to see these (who isn't already an HPL fan) we'd be interested to hear from you! smiley Other short topics this week include the movies 'Conan the Barbarian' (2011), 'The Eagle', and the animated TV show 'Adventure Time', as well as the mystery of crystal tears. Hollywood's famous Magic Castle is also a topic this week, as we had the pleasure of spending an evening there recently. Thanks for joining us!

Cool Air; The H.P. Lovecraft Collection Vol. 1: 1999 (NR) 140 minutes

Welcome to episode 111! This week we discuss the movie 'Godsend', which we agree is more of a sci-fi thriller than anything else. raised the bar. The TV show 'Alcatraz' is another topic of discussion, as we try to decide how we feel about it.

What makes a tv show or movie really good? We agree on one thing for sure... characters that you care about.

Thanks for joining us this week! We appreciate it. smiley

Rabid(1977) R
After a horrific motorcycle crash, an injured woman (Marilyn Chambers) receives experimental surgery that

saves her life, but side effects leave her thirsty for blood -- and give her a ghastly capability to extract it.

Worse, her victims become just as bloodthirsty! Soon, the entire city is thrown into chaos. Bleak, disturbing and

gloriously low-budget, this gruesome chiller from writer-director David Cronenberg is not for the squeamish.

Welcome to episode 103, where we discuss the 1992 Peter Jackson movie 'Dead Alive'. Other movies this week include 'Paul', 'The Fourth Kind', and 'The Social Network'. Our Laid to Rest segment reflects back on the Anthony Hopkins excorcism movie 'The Rite'... what went wrong with this one? Opinions are welcome! We also make quick mentions of the Fox series Fringe and the HBO series 'Big love'. Thanks for joining us this week...

Dead Alive: UR, 1992
Although it's easy to admire the maniacal glee of director Peter Jackson's bloodfest, Dead Alive is nonetheless intense and profoundly disturbing. When a Sumatran rat-monkey bites Lionel Cosgrove's mother, she's transformed into a zombie. She begins killing (and transforming) the entire town while Lionel races to keep things under control. Events culminate at a house party that turns into a blood-drenched zombie buffet.

Please feel free to check out their website at www.cockfightclub.net. Thanks for joining us!

Paranormal Activity 2: (2010) R
Doors slamming shut, shadows moving across the floor -- the unexplained, terrifyingly real supernatural forces are back, and this time, Dan (Brian Boland), Kristi (Sprague Grayden), Ali (Molly Ephraim), baby Hunter and dog Abby become part of the nightmare as the cameras roll. Tod Williams (The Door in the Floor) directs and Michael R. Perry ("Persons Unknown") writes this spine-chilling sequel to the wildly popular 2009 flick.

Mirrors 2: (2010) NR/R
In this sequel to the horror-thriller Mirrors, a security guard (Nick Stahl) working the night shift unwittingly discovers a portal to another dimension and starts having visions of a young woman who was murdered long ago. At first, he assumes what he's seeing is a figment of his own imagination. But when the vengeful girl's spirit begins claiming innocent victims, he's got concrete reasons to fear for his life.

The Rite
201, PG-13, 112 minutes
Despite his conviction that demonic possession is just so much supersitious mumbo jumbo, Catholic priest-in-training Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue) journeys to Rome to attend a special exorcism school being taught at the Vatican. Before long, true-believer Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins) introduces the young cleric to the devil's power firsthand. Happy Halloween and welcome to episode 94! smiley This week we discuss the 2008 movie 'Pontypool', as well as Disney's 'Tower of Terror'. We really are enjoying the new FX series 'American Horror Story', so talk about it quite a bit. Short topics include 'The Addams Family', the 'Xena Effect', and whether or not Nicholas Cage is a vampire. Madsaxxon also quotes from Tolstoy and gets on the soap box this week and has a thing or two to say about those who judge other people's relationships. This leads to a short discussion of the new 'Ballandchain' podcast, which looks at marriage and relationships (run by Jay from Pennycult). The link to this new podcast can be found below. This week madsaxxon and Lori celebrate their 8th wedding anniversary (yay us!). smiley .... thanks for tuning in!

Pontypool(2008) NR-
Valentine's Day is anything but ordinary for radio shock-jock Grant Mazzy after he runs into a crazed woman on the way to work -- and that's just the beginning as scores of other people in the small Ontario town of Pontypool start acting awfully odd.

Tower of Terror(1997) NR-

He gets one when he happens upon the mystery surrounding the disappearance of five people at an old luxury hotel in the 1930s. Welcome to episode 93! This week we discuss 'The Devil's Backbone', a 2001 Spanish horror/thriller directed by Guillermo del Toro. Stay tuned to the end of the show after the final music, as we make some additional comments regarding the title of the movie. Our 'laid to rest' segment didn't have much... just a confirmation that we didn't care for last week's movie! Lori (that's me) mentions once again the totally awesome Harry Potter fanfiction 'Rise of the Phoenix'. Our 'Garbage In- Garbage Out' segment is short, as we haven't had the time this week to watch many movies or shows. Short mentions include the TV shows 'Person of Interest' and 'Terra Nova', as well as Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'.

The Devil's Backbone: El Espinazo del Diablo (2001) R:
Twelve-year-old Carlos (Fernando Tielve) is the latest arrival at Santa Lucia School, an imposing stone building that shelters orphans of the Republican militia and politicians during the last days of the Spanish Civil War. Welcome to episode 90! This week we discuss the made-for-SciFi movie 'Saint Sinner'. This was a 2002 movie and the story was written by Clive Barker. Sounds promising, doesn't it? Sadly, it was not good. This week we tried to keep the show as close to 30 minutes as we could... as a result, we have very few short topics. Madsaxxon suggests watching Demon Knight or Warlock and Lori makes a quick mention of the new season of Survivor. We usually find movie trailers on Youtube, but were unable to do so this week. Instead, we've posted a 'Saint Sinner' fan video. Thanks for joining us!

Couldn't find a trailer, so...

Welcome to episode 89! This week we talk about the 1984 film, 'The Company of Wolves'. Horror or Fairy Tale? We disagree on this one. Lori thinks it's merely an adult fairy tale. Madsaxxon sees the horror. We welcome comments from anyone who has seen this film! Short topics this week include the title of last week's movie 'Let Me In' and the cancelled TV show 'Chaos'.

Welcome to episode 88! This week we do a sort of 'vampire double feature', as we discuss both '30 Days of Night: Dark Days' and 'Let Me In'. Our Garbage in, Garbage out segment features the Disney movie's 'Tangled' and 'Old Dogs', and Sofia Coppola's 'Marie Antoinette'. Short topics include a suggestion from special effects artist Mike Regan for us to check out the movie 'Mr. Brooks', and a reminder to the Harry Potter fans to check out 'Rise of the Phoenix', which is an outstanding fanfiction that offers an amazing alternate ending to the book series.

Welcome to episode 87! This week we discuss the 2009 remake of The Stepfather. Sadly, this version is missing the magic found in the original. Jason from the Horrorphilia podcast sent in his review of this movie, so you can hear that here as well. We also get to talk about the dark and gritty movie 'The Proposition', starring Guy Pearce and Emily Watson, which we really enjoyed. For our listeners who are Harry Potter fans, we share an awesome fanfiction which picks up at the end of Deathly Hallows. It begins as an alternate ending, with Voldemort winning the battle and Harry pronounced dead. This is a darker, more mature story... it's a must read. We want to thank all of our new listeners for tuning in... and a big hello and thank you to our two new listeners in Belguim! We'd also like to thank those of you who joined our Vicis Interimo fan page on Facebook this week! smiley

Sorry Mike I missed reading this on air...

Mike R.
realized I should recommend the movie Mr. Brooks (w/ Kevin Costner, Demi Moore and William Hurt)... It's listed as a thriller, but has some great moments and stuff that could be borderline horror (Costner is a serial killer!).

After discussing this week's movie, we go on to talk about other movies we've seen this week, including Easy A, The Wrestler, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the series 'Torchwood: Miracle Day'. Other short topics include the 'Slugcast' and Lori's encounters with celebrities (Bill Goldberg and David Arquette). We also decide that we've rated this week's movie too low as we discuss it... by the end of the review, we both bump up our rating. Thanks again to everyone for listening... and a very warm greeting and thank you to our new listeners in France and Colombia! big smile

Welcome to episode 85. This week we cover the original 'The Stepfather', starring Terry O'Quin. Once again, we go way over our goal of 30 minutes... and we've decided it is because Lori talks WAY too much. smiley Short topics include the very good (true story) movie 'Secretariat', Lori's love of John Malkovich, The Oblongs, and the artwork of Sebastian Munster (1488-1552).

The Stepfather(1986) R

In this acclaimed thriller classic, Jerry Blake (Terry O'Quinn) expects only one thing from his family -- perfection -- and when he doesn't get it, he doesn't just get angry, he goes mad: completely, psychopathically, homicidally mad. After brutally dispatching one clan, Jerry sets up shop with a single mom (Shelley Hack) and her brooding teen daughter (Jill Schoelen), who immediately suspects there's something not quite right about her dear old stepdad.

Welcome to episode 84! This week we review Sam Raimi's 'Army of Darkness', starring Bruce Campbell. We have a special guest this week, Mike Regan, who discusses this classic film with Madsaxxon. Lori's Crawling Chaos this week features a short discussion about new additions to the family, and short topics include out-dated video game systems, future episodes, and the movie 'Eat, Pray, Love'.

Army Of Darkness: Bound in human flesh and inked in blood, the ancient Necronomicon, or "Book of the Dead," transports department store clerk Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his 1973 Oldsmobile into England's Dark Ages. Vampire Journals(1997) R

Vengeful vampire Zachary (David Gunn) hunts down the night creature responsible for his girlfriend's death in this dark tale. After Ash kills Zachary's girlfriend, Zachary must come up with an airtight plan to murder Ash, but it won't be easy; Ash is a vampire with powers stronger than the "average Joe" vampire. Sorry this show is so late, we have had a lot happen in the last two weeks. Some good =) some bad =( , but we will talk about that later. This weeks show is Hellraiser, this may not be our best show but I hope it was worth the wait. If you haven’t see this one yet, its Clive Barker's directing debut follows the tale of a couple (Andrew Robinson, Clare Higgins) who move into an old house and discovers a hideous creature (Oliver Smith) -- the man's half-brother (and his wife's former lover) -- hiding upstairs. Having lost his earthly body to three demons, the man's been brought back to life by a drop of blood on the floor. Soon, he's forcing his former mistress to bring him human sacrifices to complete his body. Not the best synopsis lifted from netflix but we talk about that in the show. Welcome to episode 58. This week, we discuss 'The Mist', which is an adaptation of Stephen King's novella of the same name. We also talk about True Grit, Castaway, the television series 'V', and the awesomeness that is 'Fullmetal Alchemist'. smiley This episode went very long, as we got sidetracked and talked A LOT about the thin veneer of society that we hold so dear... so madsaxxon had a big job of editing the show down so it will (sort of) fit into 30 minutes. Thanks for joining us!

The Mist:

After a brutal thunderstorm pounds a small town, the residents discover a malevolent mist hangs over their homes, killing anyone who remains outside. Now, trapped in a grocery store, a band of survivors must make a stand against the deadly fog. Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden and Andre Braugher co-star in this spine chiller based on a story by horror maestro Stephen King and directed by multiple Oscar nominee Frank Darabont.
